It’s been a decade since Men in Black 2 and people didn’t really expect another movie from the franchise. Well the verdict is out and critics say that Men in Black 3 is a lot of fun. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones are back. They are joined by Josh Brolin, Emma Thompson, and Alice Eve.
In Men in Black 3, Boris the Animal breaks out of prison and goes back to 1969 to kill Agent K. His partner J (Will Smith) has to team up with the young Agent K (Josh Brolin) to try to stop the alien from fulfilling his plan and prevent an invasion of the planet.
The Men in Black are black and they are a little bit older and the action looks slightly exhausting. But J and K still do well in the comedy department to make this third installation worth its ticket price. It does well to make the look and feel fun for everyone.
Tommy Lee Jones as Agent K is only around at the start and climax of Men in Black 3. Emma Thompson provides the eye candy as she gives a bit of classy British humor to the sci-fi action comedy. But her screen time is lacking as the dry MIB female chief O. Josh Brolin plays the younger K to perfection. But he can do a little as he has to play second fiddle to Will Smith.
Boris, played by Flight of the Conchord’s Jemaine Clement, is one of the oldest aliens that Agent K has captured in his career. His escape out of prison sets out a complicated time-travel plot. It gets most of its laugh via its weird and wacky aliens. With J going back to the 1960s, it sets up some gags about race relations and pop culture.
