Is Will Smith running for president? Is it true that Donald Trump may force him to do so?
In Will Smith’s new movie, he tries to fix the NFL. What’s next? America. USA Today reported that in his recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning, Smith joked that he might be forced into running for president if the “crazy” political rhetoric of this year’s presidential race becomes more intense.
While he doesn’t explicitly denounce the candidates, the actor’s quote about “people” saying “crazy kinds of stuff” about “walls and Muslims” hints that he was talking about Donald Trump. It will be recalled that “walls” and “Muslims” are the two trademark issues in Trump’s presidential campaign. He has spoken persistently about his desire to keep out undocumented Mexican immigrants by building a 100-foot wall and ban all Muslims from entering the United States. He also said that all Muslims that are already in the country will have to enroll in a national database.
“If people keep saying all the crazy kinds of stuff they’ve been saying on the news lately about walls and Muslims, they’re going to force me into the political arena. I mean, I gotta be the President. Come on! What else would I run for?” Smith said in his interview with CBS Sunday Morning on December 13.
According to Huffington Post, Smith’s wordings sounds jocular, but he might be more serious that he appears. In his interview, Smith also explained that once he became the biggest movie star in the world, he asked himself what he should do next. He said that he did not feel content with his accomplishments.
“I realized that the dream was too small. I realized that there was no way that I was put here just to be a movie star,” the “Concussion” star said.
What do you think? Is he being serious about his potential leap into politics?
