Will the Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather Fight Finally Happen on May 2, 2015? [WATCH VIDEO]

After so many years, and so many excuses, undefeated pound-for-pound boxing king Floyd Mayweather has finally consented to fight Filipino eight-division world champion, Manny Pacquiao.

"We are ready. Let's make it happen. May 2. Mayweather versus Manny Pacquiao. Let's do it," Mayweather declared during a Showtime interview in San Antonio, as reported by ESPN.

It looks like Mayweather, who’s been avoiding the risk of losing his undefeated status, finally caved in after Pacquiao and Top Rank promoter Rob Arun put up a verbal offensive to pile on the pressure. Pacquiao even dared his favorite nemesis to donate all the proceeds of their fight to charity.

In the past, Mayweather has consistently made comments disparaging the Filipino fighter, which the latter always shrugged off, following several unsuccessful negotiations from 2009 to 2010. This time around, Pacquiao has decided to take the insults head on with a more aggressive and challenging stance, even mocking Mayweather’s alleged reluctance to fight him in a Foot Locker commercial.

"I would love to fight Manny Pacquiao. We tried to make the fight happen years ago; we had problems with random blood and urine testing,"  says Mayweather in Showtime. "I just want to be on an even playing field. Now he's in a very, very tight situation. He's lost to [Juan Manuel] Marquez, he’s lost to [Timothy] Bradley. Pay-per-view numbers are extremely low. He's desperate. I wanted that fight a long time ago. I'm just waiting on them…So let's make this fight happen. Manny Pacquiao, Bob Arum, you guys have been ducking us for years"

Mayweather omitted the fact that Pacquiao already agreed to be randomly tested years ago. He continued on to assert that organizer Bob Arum was behind the fight delay.

Boxing fans are rejoicing at Mayweather’s change of heart and are gearing up for the fight of the century on May 2, 2015. Whether it stems from the millions Mayweather stands to make or the stinging accusation of cowardice coming from his own son, we can only guess.
