From the year 2012, Willow Shields had the opportunity of working with Jennifer Lawrence. The young actress played the role of Lawrence’s sister in “The Hunger Games.”
Willow Shields revealed that at the beginning, Jennifer Lawrence was a big sister to her. She was quite young at that time “The Hunger Games” film franchise started shooting and she was also playing the character of Lawrence’s sister. But as days and weeks passed, they both started sharing a beautiful bond and now it is more like friends than sisters.
Shields is of the opinion that growing up with Lawrence has strengthened their friendship. She also mentioned that their reel and real life situations changed simultaneously. As in reel life, though they are sisters, they have evolved as friends, too.
When asked what the biggest benefit of being sister-cum-friend with Lawrence is, she was excited to reveal that working with the Katniss Everdeen of the movies has been of great benefit and learning experience for her. This is due to the fact that Lawrence has worked in this industry for so long and has lots of experience in this field. Shields share that Lawrence was like a true mentor, sister, and friend that guides her.
Recalling her first scene with Lawrence, Shields says that she had to wake up crying as she had just had a nightmare. She remembers fondly how the elder actress made the whole episode quite easy for her. Lawrence joked about it to make the situation light so that Shields could execute it easily. Shields tells PEOPLE that she found that extremely sweet on her co-star’s part and cherishes it to date. She recalls they had super fun while shooting all their scenes together.
It was therefore emotional for the entire crew of “The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2” when they finished the final scenes. It was particularly emotional for the onscreen sister-cum-friends, who had become so close during the past few years. Lawrence even gave Shields a beautiful necklace, which has a little star in it. The young actress mentioned that she is very fond of it and wears it a lot. Lawrence, ever the mature one, told her, “You know, we’re not gonna cry about this situation. It’s fine. We’ll see each other a ton.”
