“The Winds of Winter” author George R.R. Martin said in a previous interview that the plot of his upcoming book would involve a “great twist.” How would it impact the readers? Read on for more details.

George R.R. Martin, author of the “A Song of Ice and Fire” novel series, teased the plot of his sixth book, “Winds of Winter,” saying that he just thought of a big, revealing life-changing twist on a long-time character.

“Winds of Winter” Plot

“This is going to drive your readers crazy, but I loved it. I’m still weighing whether to go that direction or not,” Martin said in a report by Entertainment Weekly.

“The Winds of Winter” author said that he did not consider this twist, but now he seemed to be ready. No one knows what exactly it was and he’s not telling anything about it yet.

But one thing is for sure, Martin said that it is going to be something shocking. And by what he meant about a shocking twist was not for the sake of being shocking.

The 66-year-old author also said that the plot twist in “The Winds of Winter” is going to be “very organic and natural,” which would also involve three or four characters.

Referring to the long-time character that Martin was planning to have a big twist, he said that there were some decisions that producers of the “Game of Thrones” have already made that would eventually end that character’s plot. But with him, he has not made those decisions yet, implying that something new is up, something that he never came up with before.

Hence, it seemed that the upcoming book might revolve around these four or five characters.

“Winds of Winter” Placed At the Back Burner for Six Months

Martin also shared his regret about not finishing it while the iron was hot. He said that he already had the idea of its plot after completing “A Dance with Dragons,” but because of some book tour and editing appoints, he needed to place it at the back burner.

Martin said that “Winds of Winter” was held for six months. And now it seemed time is running out as the next “Game of Thrones” season needs it before it debuts around March to April, Vine Report stated.

Here’s to hoping that the sixth book would come out just in time.
