From the plethora of opinions going around and flooding twitter, there are three story plots that resonate more than the rest. These are “Kitty Pryde and Wolverine,” “Old Man Logan” and “Death of Woverine.”
Let us have a bit of a discussion on what these three are all about.
First on our chopping block is “Kitty Pryde and Wolverine” by Chris Claremont. The story mainly revolves around the development of Kitty Pryde. It is also one of the best example of Wolverine showing his fatherly/brotherly/mentor-like capabilities.
In summary, the story places Kitty in a situation where she follows her father, whom she believes has ran into trouble with the Yazkuza, back to Tokyo. However, her attempt to help back fired when Ogun, an evil ninja who once trained Wolverine, brainwashed her into killing people and Logan.
“‘Kitty Pryde & Wolverine’ shows Logan as a troubled, debased soul aspiring to be better than that, but through Kitty’s eyes we see just how incredible that journey really is”, reported by Sci-FiNow.
The second pick gives Hugh Jackman the chance to end his Wolverine streak in a graceful manner, a somewhat happily ever after kind of vibe. The “Old Man Logan” story, which was also popularly mentioned in the social media site, is a story by Mark Millar. It takes Wolverine in a reality where supervillains won; a world filled with Venom-infected Tyrannosaurus Rex, redneck Hulks, and Red Skull as the US President. The feel of the story is like a mix of Sylvester Stallone’s “Rambo: Last Stand” and Clint Eastwood’s “Unforgiven.”
Contrary to the 90s action movie vibe of “Old Man Logan” we have, one of the top picks of the fans is “Death of Wolverine.” This movie being the final film for Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, the story of “Death of Wolverine” is very apt for a final hurrah.
In this story, Logan lost his healing ability. He also encountered Dr. Cornelius, the scientist that bonded the Adamantium to his skeleton. As the story progressed, Wolverine learned that the mad scientist was creating mindless human weapons out of innocent people. In order to stop this madness, Wolverine unsheathed his claws and in one final act, he slashed the entire container of the metal open and covering himself in the process. He also went after the villain to give the doctor his just desserts. The story ends with Logan looking at the vastness of the dessert as the sun sets while the Adamantuim surrounding his body hardens.
“Its plot brings with no healing factor, this appears to be a very definitive end for Wolverine” reported by ComicBookMovie.
