Wonder Woman, starring Gal Gadot, is one of the most anticipated superhero films. The actress had made her first appearance as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman. Now, fans are eager to see Gadot in her solo movie, Wonder Woman, reprising the role.

This film is set to be released on June 2, 2017. On the same day, another superhero but animated film, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, produced by DreamWorks Animation will be releasing. Apart from this, the next weekend in June will drop another big budget film, The Mummy, followed by Transformers: The Last Knight.

Despite such tough competitions lined up for release in the month of June, Wonder Woman is anticipated to finish the race at the top. Fans of this film are buzzing with speculations why this may happen. Here are some reasons why Wonder Woman might top the box office.

1. Massive Box Office Opening Collection Expected

Wonder Woman is expected to open the weekend with a big collection at the box office. It is expected to collect an $83 million opening amount, reports Express UK. If this happens, it will be more than the Power Rangers Movie collected.

The movie managed to earn around $40 million on the opening weekend but later faltered to continue the pace. Despite the not-so-impressive earnings at the box office, the film is apparently having a sequel.

On the other hand, this forecasted opening weekend amount will be lesser than other superhero films, such as Batman Vs Superman’s ($166 million), Suicide Squad’s ($133.6 million), and others, as per the aforementioned source.

2. Excitement Has Raised After Trailer Dropped

The excitement among fans and its audience has risen after the trailer of Wonder Woman was released. In addition to this, brief cinema footage, shown at the Cinema Con, has also increased the hype around the film.

To be specific, Yahoo! Movies had reported last month that Wonder Woman produced 19,000 conversations last week, in the wake of a trailer. Although The Fate of the Furious topped this list, Wonder Woman is likely to top the box office in June.

3. Wonder Woman Will Feature In Justice League

It is interesting to note that Wonder Woman, also known as Gal Gadot, will next be featured in Justice League. The latter is set to release on Nov. 17, 2017. In Justice League, Wonder Woman and Batman gather a team to fight Steppenwolf and his army.

Perhaps the success of Wonder Woman will determine whether fans would like to watch Gadot in the film Justice League. The trailer of this next superhero film has Gadot in it. This drops a hint that perhaps Wonder Woman has a heavy role to play in the film directed by Zack Snyder.

4. Patty Jenkins Is The Director

Jenkins is popular for her super hit film Monsters. It was revealed in 2015 that Jenkins will direct Wonder Woman. Fans are excited to watch a female superhero film that is directed by a woman.

In addition, the other lead actor, Chris Pine, plays Steve Trevor in the film. The story is set in the World War I period. Historically, this war has played a significant role in the geopolitics. This might also prompt the audience to choose watching Wonder Woman than other films that are set to be released on the same day.

5. Wonder Woman Is A Popular DC Character

Last but not the least, Wonder Woman is a fan favorite character from DC Comics. Her fans are excited for her backstory to be told in the film.

The trailer has featured a young Diana Prince. Therefore, the story of her childhood and how she becomes Wonder Woman might be seen in the film.

To fight in the war, she takes the sword and begins her mission. This teases that it can be a complete action-packed film.
