The young Han Solo movie has been surrounded with controversy, but things are starting to look up now that filming has once again commenced under new director Ron Howard. According to Woody Harrelson, fans should not worry about the Star Wars spin-off.

Harrelson On The New Director

Earlier this year, Lucasfilm removed Phil Lord and Chris Miller (The LEGO Movie, 21 Jump Street) from the project. The two, according to reports, clashed with the studio’s head, Katherine Kennedy, about how they envisioned the movie. That is why halfway through filming the two were replaced by long-time Star Wars fan and Academy Award winner, Howard.

Replacing the director after a significant amount of the movie has already been filmed does sound rather worrisome. Earlier reports claimed that footage that was filmed under the supervision of Miller and Lord. Howard, meanwhile, already joined the cast and crew in London to start filming earlier this month.

Despite the many roadblocks, the young Han Solo movie is still on track to be released next year. Moreover, according to Harrelson fans have absolutely nothing to worry about because the upcoming movie is in very capable hands.

“Oh, you can relax, man – because obviously the Force is with us,” the actor told Uproxx. “Ron is great. He’s awesome. He’s such a gentleman and so prepared.”

While he is all praises for the former directors, he stated that Howard can do an equally good job. “And I loved Chris and Phil,” he added. “But I think we did land in very capable hands.”

Harrelson was cast as Beckett, a new character who will serve as a mentor to Alden Ehrenreich’s Han Solo. He is the reason why the beloved character, who eventually became a hero of the galaxy, was a notorious smuggler when Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (Sir Alec Guiness) in Star Wars: A New Hope.

Han Meets Beckett

The life-changing meeting between Han Solo and Beckett has already been documented and released on the Internet. Paparazzi site TMZ published a photo from the set of the young Han Solo movie featuring Ehrenreich, Harrelson and what looks like the mysterious character of Emilia Clarke.

The Game of Thrones actor signed up to the Han Solo movie last year. A few months into filming, her role is yet to be revealed.

The photos according to the website, were captured after Howard has assumed the responsibility as the director. Not much is known about the plot except for the fact that it will take place right before Han was involved with Luke, Obi-Wan, Leia (Carrie Fisher) and the rebellion in Star Wars: A New Hope.

It will also reveal how exactly Han Solo and Chewbacca met Lando Calrissian who first appeared in Star Wars: Empire Strikes Back. The character will be played by Donald Glover.

Jabba the Hutt is also rumored to reappear.

The young Han Solo movie is produced by Lucasfilm and will be distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. Lawrence and Jon Kasdan wrote the screenplay. The movie also stars Thandie Newton, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Joonas Suotamo.

Fans will likely hear about the highly-anticipated project at Disney’s D23 Expo later this month. Rumors claim that the official title of the Star Wars spin-off will be revealed at the fan convention. A new trailer for Star Wars Episode VIII is also expected to be released at the convention later this month.

However, neither Star Wars: The Last Jedi nor the young Han Solo movie will be heading to San Diego Comic-Con later this year.

The young Han Solo movie will be released on May 25, 2018. Meanwhile, Star Wars: The Last Jedi will open on Dec. 15.
