World War Z 2 is expected to hit the cinema halls this year. It is a sequel to the action horror movie, World War Z. The 2013 movie starred Brad Pitt in the role of Gerry Lane.

The first World War Z was based on Max Brooks’ novel of the same name. But did not follow the book’s material much. Still, the movie was able to earn over $540million. Since it was a commercial success, a sequel will have to come.

World War Z 2 Director

Fans already know that the production of the first movie faced some setbacks. This led to the delay in the movie release. Now, fans are hoping that World War Z 2 would not experience any production hiccups. Well, so far reports only suggest that the production of the new movie is a bit sluggish. Paramount is still looking for a director. J.A. Bayona’s name has also been associated with the project.

On the other hand, Pitt thinks that David Fincher should direct the sequel. Some reports have surfaced some time back that indicated that Fincher might agree to direct World War Z 2. But it seems things could not get materialized. Pitt and Fincher share a very friendly relationship with each other. Pitt has been part of Fincher’s directorial project, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, in the past. He has also acted in other movies directed by him such as Fight Club and Seven.

Screenwriter of World War Z 2 Talks About the Sequel

Previously, it has been reported that Steven Knight is engaged in writing the screenplay of the movie. But some reports surfaced later hinting that Dennis Kelly (Utopia) has been rewriting World War Z 2 screenplay. Not much is known whether these are some rumors or Kelly is actually rewriting the screenplay. According to Den of Geek, Knight is known for his works in Eastern Promises and Lock.

World War Z 2 will hit the theaters on June 9, 2017. It has come as an announcement from Paramount. Since nothing is confirmed about the director and screenwriter, fans should wait for more announcements.
