Wynonna Earp Season 2: Show Producer Promises ‘Real Surprises’

SyFy’s Wynonna Earp was renewed for Season 2. Filming of new episodes is currently underway in locations in Alberta, Canada. The next installment of the supernatural thriller from Emily Andras began production work in mid-December and expected to wrap up by mid-April 2017. Unfortunately, information about the series is scarce but fans are in for a lot of surprises when it premieres later this year.

Wynonna Earp Season 2 Details

Wynonna Earp was picked up for Season 2 in July 2016. Initially, the series received a reduced 10-episode order from SyFy, down from 13 episodes in Season 1. However, it was later announced that SyFy added two episodes for the series’ anticipated sophomore run.

“I’m absolutely thrilled we have the opportunity to deliver more of our witty, female-led, kickass, diverse supernatural series to our passionate fan base around the world,” said Andras in a press release.

The series filmed in a location in High River in Canada. The crew reportedly used a fire department “of a certain size and accessibility” for a scene. They also made use of Fourth Avenue SW, Colossi’s Cafe and a nearby alleyway to feature on the show. Location scouts also looked at downtown High River for possible locations for the remaining episodes of Season 2.

Melanie Scrofano will return to the series as the titular character Wynonna Earp, great granddaughter of Wyatt Earp and gun-slinging demon hunter Wynonna Earp is also a comic book series published by IDW. Tim Rozon will also reprise his role as Doc Holliday. Dominique Provost-Chalkley, Shamier Anderson and Katherine Barrell also star.

The first season of Wynonna Earp received an average of 556,000 average viewers per episode. The 13-episode run wrapped up by late June 2016.

More Revelations

High River Times caught up with Brian Dennis while the series was on location fro Feb. 14 to 16. The producer was happy to divulge a few details about the show, including what fans can expect in in Season 2. First, he revealed that the original cast are getting along quite well with the newcomers.

He also teased that viewers should brace for a lot of big surprises in the upcoming season. “We have some real surprises up our sleeves this year and we can’t wait to show them to everybody in the summer,” he promised. As for a premiere date, Dennis told the publication that Wynonna Earp Season 2 will arrive on Netflix Canada sometime in May.
