Fans of MARVEL, and of the comic books and the movie featuring MARVEL’s space-faring superhero team, “The Guardians of the Galaxy,” will be pleased to learn that a child friendly version of the ragtag superhero team will be soon debuting, according to the official website of MARVEL, as an animated series, and will be joining a MARVEL-ous roster of animated series such as “MARVEL’s HULK and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.”, “MARVEL’s Avengers Assemble”, and “MARVEL’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors”, which are all shown on Disney XD. TV Line has also just shared an exclusive first look at the show’s poster, and the official website of MARVEL has listed down a sequence of dates of clips that will be released on Disney XD leading up to the show’s premiere date, which was also announced on the official website. Read on to learn more about this new animated series from MARVEL.
“The Guardians of the Galaxy” has never been as popular as it is today, thanks to the recent movie and the upcoming sequel of the movie which starred stars such as Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Dave Batista. Recently, a new book has been released featuring the space faring ragtag band of superheroes. It also has resulted to team ups within the books with other legendary MARVEL characters such as Carol Danvers or Captain Marvel, Kitty Pryde, and the X-Men.
According to the official website of MARVEL, this band of superheroes finally has its own animated show, and will be joining the likes of “MARVEL’s HULK and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H..” “MARVEL’s Avengers Assemble,” and “MARVEL’s Ultimate Spider-Man: Web Warriors,” which are all shown on Disney XD.
According to MARVEL, the show, will premiere on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at 9:30 p.m. with two back-to-back episode. An exclusive sneak peek into the first episode of the series will be released on Sept. 5, 2015 at 9:00 p.m. on Disney XD, entitled “Road to Knowhere”. This will be aired again on Sept. 26, 2015, and afterwards, an episode entitled “Knowhere to Run” will air.
All throughout August, leading up to the series premiere, five two parter shorts which will focus on each member of the “Guardians” team will be aired, beginning with “Star-Lord-Part 1 and 2.” It will air on Aug. 1, 2015 at 8:58 p.m. and 10:28 p.m., respectively.
This will be followed by a two parter about Groot, which will air on Aug. 8, 2015. Part 1 will air at 8:58 p.m., and the second part will air at 9:58 p.m.
Rocket Raccoon’s two parter will be aired on Aug. 15, 2015, with Part 1 airing at 8:58 p.m., and with Part 2 airing at 9:58 p.m.
Next up are the shorts on Drax, which will air on Aug. 22, 2015 with Part 1 airing at 8:58 p.m. and with the second part airing at 9:58 p.m.
Finally, audiences will get to know Gamora a little bit better on Aug. 29, 2015 with a two parter whose first half will air at 8:58 p.m., while the second half will air an hour later.
The series follows “The Guardians of the Galaxy.” They are part of a ragtag group of space-faring superheroes and misfits, who defend the galaxy and the Earth from enemies and foes. The series begins with the newly minted team discovering an artifact which opens only to Peter Quill’s, also known as Star-Lord, DNA. Because of this, the team is thrust into a treasure hunt, and a race against foes such as The Collector, Ronan, Loki, and the Grandmaster, as they try to find the Cosmic Seed, a weapon that they must ultimately destroy, in order to save the universe.
The show’s themes, according to MARVEL, will center around the value of friendship, family, and will touch on themes of redemption, and will have several story arcs, just like most live action shows.
TV Line also released the show’s poster which feature the entire team against a blue and starry sky. Under them are the words “We’re Back; You’re Welcome.” TV Line also announced that Will Friedle will be portraying Star-Lord, Kevin Michael Richardson will be the voice actor for Groot, “Star Wars Rebels” star Vanessa Marshall will be the voice of Gamora, David Sobolov will be voicing Drax, and Trevor Devall will be the voice of Groot’s best friend, Rocket Raccoon.
