It is rare for Hollywood celebrities to engage themselves in horse-riding activities as a recreational sport or interest. For “New Girl” lead star Zooey Deschanel, it is only logical for her to continue the activity, considering her first love is horseback riding. As a matter of fact, the 34-year-old actress has already gained recognition as an equestrienne and still joins competitions whenever she can.
Despite her love for horseback riding, Deschanel has recently gone under fire by a horse owner named Patty Parker. According to Parker, the actress has overworked her leased stallion to the point that he is already “injured and unusable.”
TMZ reported that Parker has sued the actress for overworking her leased show horse back in 2013. Displayed on the contract signed by both parties, Deschanel had agreed not to overwork the stallion named Literati for $13,000. Court documents show that the restrictions of the contract included an agreement to not overwork the horse by doing “no more than three jumping lessons per week.” When Deschanel returned the show horse, Literati required serious medical attention. In lieu of this, Parker has decided to sue the actress to help her pay for the horse’s high veterinary bills.
Deschanel has not yet responded to the media to share her side of the story regarding this latest development.
Despite her four-year absence from film making, Deschanel is expected to be in a couple of films slated for a 2015 release. Additionally, her “New Girl” comedy TV series will be returning for the second part of its fourth season on Fox on Jan. 6, 2015. Deschanel can also be seen on the comedy “Rock The Kasbah,” which stars Bruce Willis, Bill Murray, Kate Hudson and Danny McBride. The movie is set to open in theatres on April 24, 2015.
