The movie that showed a different kind of fashion tragedy.”Zoolander” is having its sequel 14 years later and production is set to begin by Spring of 2015. Continue reading to know more about the details of this scoop.
The 2001 fashion-centric comedy movie that starred Ben Stiller, “Zoolander” managed to earn $60 million in the Worldwide Box Office. Given that the film only had $28 million in their production budget, it’s safe to say that the film was a success. But that fact is 14 years ago and it’s just last year that the sequel to the film was confirmed along with its casting. The storyline for “Zoolander 2” will take place in real time succeeding the first film installment. Derek Zoolander (Ben Stiller) and Hansel McDonald (Owen Wilson) left their supermodel days to the past and living in a new life. That’s as far as the updates go with the screenplay put together from the collaboration of lead actor Ben Stiller and “Tropic Thunder” writer Justin Theroux. “Zoolander 2” is slated to begin this Spring in Rome.
According to Movie Web, Mayor of Rome Ignazio Marino made the announcement that “Zoolander 2” will be having Rome as its primary shooting locatio. It will be filmed with an estimated duration of 12 weeks inside and around the eponymous Cinecittà Studios. Despite no releases of an official press release coming from the film’s distributor, the announcement of the Mayor is turning out to be a plausible given that the prime location of the film will be set in Europe as revealed in the script.
Stiller will be the one heading the helms of the film. Christine Taylor, Will Ferrell, and Owen Wilson are expected to reprise their roles, but only Taylor has made the confirmation for her return. Meanwhile, the “Zoolander” sequel will also be adding new people to their cast with Penelope Cruz, Jonah Hill and true to life supermodel Cara Delevingne.
That ends our update on the production for “Zoolander 2.” Continue to keep your tabs on Movie News Guide (MNG) for more information on upcoming films, popular celebrities, and ongoing TV shows.
