A new series called “Smoke and Shadow,” featuring the life and times of Zuko will be out soon, according to The Real Stan Lee.
Fire Lord Zuko is one of the most beloved characters from “The Last Airbender” franchisee and is one of best developed antihero characters in anime. Voiced by Dante Basco, Prince Zuko’s shift from fierce enemy to ally for Avatar Aang was a brilliant character arc. His character is so beloved, that he appeared in the sequel to “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” “Legend of Korra.” The Fire Lord was shown as an aged character but the fans still loved him.
In the book series, we will see Zuko as a young fire lord who is still getting used to the throne he desired the most. The only fire lord Zuko has seen up close was his notorious father who was famous for his uncanny and tyrannous ways.
According to Yang, that is his only inspiration to be a ruler and the idea of power might corrupt him. Fire Kingdom has always been the strongest and to be the fire lord can show you ways to misuse power. On the other hand, Zuko has been the most emotionally tormented character throughout the storyline and the book will reflect on that too.
Yang says that our family affects us and our origins shape the way we grow up. “We worry about either continuing the legacy of our parents or falling into the same pitfalls as they did. And I feel like that’s just a hundred times worse for Zuko.” Yang added. Therefore the focus of the book will be on how Zuko deals with being a part of the notorious Fire Nation Family.
“Smoke and Shadow” will be released in three volumes. Eventually it will be released in a single hardcover edition. The first part will be released on September 23 and part two on December 16.
